Extension Centres
Bit has extension centres at various places. The first extension centre was opened at Lalpur, Ranchi in 1984. At present there are six extension centres at Lalpur, Allahabad, Kolkata, Noida, Jaipur and Chennai.
Courses offered there include MCA, BCA, MBA and some others. Neither BE nor ME is offrered at any extension cente.
Though the course there be not at par with the Main Campus ( I am not saying they are bad), the students from there get degrees from Bit Mesra and it is equal to a degree from main campus. The students may switch from one campus to other by permission from the VC.
Apart from these BIT has overseas centres at Bahrain, Muscut and UAE

I was very sorry read ur comment about your views on standard of the extension centres not being at par with the main campus.
I am student of kolkata extension centre , MCA.. and the only thing that feels lacking is the huge campus environment and hostel norms.Otherwise the students and faculty members are as competent as urs.Infact we have got some best faculties like..Dr.Abhijit Kar the oldest Comp.Sc teacher of BIT and Debashish Jana, the author of 'OOP Paradigm and C++'.

We do have good facilties which are very much competent and try to give personal care which studs of main campus lacks. Among so many studs a individual gets lost. The teacher just delivers the lecture and Over But we facilty who cares for every studs.

Dr. Abhijit Kar, Reader in JU, Ex Diector of BIT-Kol, a project member in DRDO projects for Image processing and sattelite image processing takes his time for students.

Dr. Debashsis Jana, a well known author is a faculty of BIT-K. So how do you underrate BIT-K.

I still hold my opinion, inspite of what you would say. See a very important fact in any place and especially when you are trying for a job is perception. Now I donot think that I am qualified enough to comment on the quality of education imparted and hence would agree if you said that it is at par. But the perception that main campus is better is held by most head hunters and comapnies. So the main campus students have an advatage. Also the competition is tougher to get into the main campus, so is, arguably, the level of students.
